Our Profile

Established out of a lifetime's love of hunting and the preservation of wildlife, I was trained by the then chairman of the Taxidermy Association of South Africa - Van Rooyen Strydom.
After practising as a full time Taxidermist under his guidance for two years, I attended specialised training courses with the world renowned Australian taxidermist - Tony Psaila. In 1994 we employed him for four months, whereby major advanced techniques were incorporated into our business. This enabled us to produce the finest quality mounts, in half the time, an asset of which we are very proud. We are always seeking new ways and methods of improving quality and service to our clients. All aspects of our trade are done by us on our premises. Our standard is such that we have built up clientele overseas, including Germany, France, Australia, Czech Republic, Austria, Canada, Chile, U.K and the USA.
Because Debbie and I value good clients and the support of individuals, farmers and professional hunters , we have produced this website which we trust will portray the quality of trophies mounted by our company. As we are active hunters ourselves, we understand the importance of your trophies, which are without doubt the best memories of your hunting experience.
As a growing concern, built on trust and quality, we once again pledge to our clients to earn and maintain each client's trust in our craftsmanship.
Why Choose Out of Africa Taxidermy to mount your trophies

We are confident that South African Taxidermists are in a better position than their overseas counterparts for the following reasons:

  • Most species are readily obtainable at any given time to custom-make life size models
  • Over the years we have recieved thousands of each species to be mounted and have gained hands-on experience as to each facial expression, posture etc.
  • If a client's capes or skins is not usable because of damage by rifle bullet etc., it can in most instances be readily replaced at reasonable rates.
  • Because of top class training, our knowledge of our local animals combined with the skills obtained from ex. American and Australian Taxidermy techniques and equipment, we can compete with the best.
  • We also exercise the greatest care in the handling, crafting and packaging of our client's trophies.
  • Our company employs approximately 18 people.
All aspects of taxidermy are carried out in our 6000 square meter studio including:
    • Mounting
    • Packaging
    • Crafting
    • Dipping
    • Taming
    • Shipping
How do you as our client benefit?
A better service and individuals specialising in their respective fields of expertise. The benefit of quality mounted trophies at a fraction of the cost obtained in your own country. According to a survey conducted by the Professional Hunters Association of South Africa on the 1997 hunting season, 63% of foreign hunters had their taxidermy work successfully concluded in South Africa. This growing tendency to support the South African taxidermy industry highlights the faith in local artists' craftsmanship and affordability.
 Thank you for your custom.
